We aim to reply within two working days. If you are reporting something broken, telling us what you tapped and what happened instead is worth more than anything else you can send.

Rooms and invites

How do I start?

Create a room, then share its six-character invite code with the person you are deciding with. They enter it on their own device and you are both in. A room needs at least two people before anything can match.

Someone I did not invite joined my room

Invite codes work for anyone holding them, so a code shared in a group chat can travel. If you created the room you can remove that member, and issue a new code — the old one stops working the moment you do. Both are in the room's settings.

Can I get a name off the list?

Yes. Ask the room's owner to delete the room if you want everything gone, or write to us for a single match you want removed.

Matching

Why has nothing matched yet?

A match needs at least two people to like the same name — always, whatever the room's rule is set to. If you are swiping alone, nothing will match until someone joins, at which point the names you already liked start counting.

We both liked a name and it did not match

Give it a moment; matching happens on our servers and lands on both phones by itself, usually within a second or two. If it still has not appeared, check that you are both actually in the same room and that neither of you has left it.

Someone joined and a match disappeared

That is intentional. Joining a room raises the number of people who have to agree, so something two people settled may no longer meet the bar for three. It comes back as soon as the new member likes it too. The same thing happens in reverse: when someone leaves, names the rest already agreed on can become matches.

Why do I keep seeing names my partner already liked?

Because those are the ones where your vote decides a match — every other card cannot produce anything however you swipe it. They are dealt to you first, labelled with who liked them, and they ignore your filters on purpose, so tightening a filter never strands a name someone already picked.

Signing in

I forgot my password

Use "Forgot password" on the sign-in screen. The link arrives by email and lets you set a new one. Your old password stops working immediately.

Why does it demand an authenticator app?

If you signed up with an email and password, Ditto requires a second factor and will not let you into the app without one. Use any authenticator app — Apple's built-in one, Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy. If you signed in with Google or Apple instead, this does not apply to you; your existing account security carries over.

I lost my authenticator app

Write to support@dittomatch.app from the email address on the account. Because the second factor is mandatory there is no side door, so we have to verify it is you by hand. Please do not delete and recreate your account — you would lose your history and your rooms.

"Your session has expired"

Reload the app and sign in again. Nothing is lost; swipes are saved as you make them.

Email

Stopping the emails

Every digest and nudge has an unsubscribe link at the bottom that works straight from your inbox without signing in. You can also turn a room's mail off inside the app. Both take effect at once, and nobody else can turn it back on for you.

Nothing is arriving

Check spam first, and mark it "not spam" if you find it there. Note that the daily digest only sends when something new is waiting on you — a queue you have been ignoring for a week is not new, and will not generate mail.

Someone is nudging me repeatedly

They cannot. A person can receive at most one nudge per room per day no matter how many people press the button. If you want none at all, use the unsubscribe link.

Your account

Deleting your account

Account → Delete account in the app. It is immediate and permanent — your account, your memberships, and every swipe you have cast are removed, along with any room where you were the last person left. Names a room already agreed on stay with the people still in that room; the privacy policy explains why and how to ask us to remove those too.

Getting a copy of your data

Ask at privacy@dittomatch.app and we will send it within 30 days.

Privacy

Why is there no cookie banner?

Because there are no cookies to accept. This website stores nothing on your device and runs no JavaScript at all. The app keeps your sign-in session, any swipes still waiting to upload, and the cards you have already seen — all on your own device, all needed to run it, and none of it used to track you. Nothing here feeds an analytics or advertising service, because there isn't one.

Does Ditto use AI?

No. Nothing you do in the app is sent to a language model, and nothing you write is used to train one. The names and the figures attached to them are fixed reference data, compiled from public birth records before the app shipped.

Reporting a security problem

Please tell us at privacy@dittomatch.app before disclosing it publicly. We will confirm we have received it, keep you posted on the fix, and credit you if you would like.
